District 81p - Caribbean Toastmasters

PLANNING TIPS FOR YOUR NEXT DISTRICT CONFERENCE

CTCT conferences are usually held on a weekend, Friday to Sunday. Here are a few tips when planning to go to a conference.

Check flight availability. You may have to travel a day early or later depending on your country of origin and available airlines and flight schedules.

Book time off early if necessary.  Plan to be there on the Friday and leave on the Monday to get the most out of the conference and even some shopping time.

Make your budget and start saving.  Your cost should  include airfare, hotel accommodations and meals, conference registration, transportation, travel taxes and shopping money.

Check that travel documents are valid.  Most immigrations require travel document valid for more than 6 months.  Some countries like the US require Caribbean nationals to have a valid visa.

Complete your convention registration form and return it on time.  There may be a fee for late registration and it may be hard to find reasonable accommodations late in the game.

Book and confirm your hotel reservations prior to departure.  Sleeping on the pavement or squatting is not allowed or safe.

Pack your bags, grab your ticket, passport and your money and head for the airport, two hours early.
